Savannah Local Bands
Last season I talked about touring bands that stop in Savannah… Wayland, Derek Day, Cooley Savant (now King Cooley) and because you like what you heard you responded in a big way! So we’re going to take a look and listen to our local music scene. And whatever your flavor is Rock, Soul, Reggae, Jazz … Savannah’s music scene is booming with these local musicians within the burgeoning music scene in Savannah. And beyond. I’ll be featuring bands that continue to elevate their musical art form. These are bands you want to see and hear night after night venue after venue all over the Hostess City.
Xulu Prophet
Xulu Prophet – Xulu Jones, Rhett Coleman, Olsin Daly blowing it up on the Savannah music scene with their high octane heavy Caribbean flavored groove music. These guys tear it up from Barrelhouse to Huck-A-Poos on Tybee Island; but their popularity goes way beyond the Low Country. They’ve taken their dance & party infused tunes to stages and festivals in Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee and Florida.
I’ve seen these guys open for the always touring The Wailers and Here Come the Mummies. They rocked it out at one of Shelley Smith’s kick ass soirees downtown and for charitable events and causes like Ambucs. Their sound is both wildly their own yet unifying and familiar all at once.

The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra
It’s Big Band Theory with The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra! Saxophonist Jeremy and lead crooner Clay Johnson and around 17 other amazing musicians are a force on stages all over Savannah! Their orchestral movements come with that Louisiana swagger which brings events to life and make an evening a wonderful memory.
They gave an amazing performance at the South Magazine Issue Release party where they introduce a new generation of singers and musicians, courtesy of Equinox Entertainment. They regularly perform at the Westin Harbor Big Band Brunch, but here they are making beautiful music in this video.
