Welcome Everybody! Check out our Top 5 segment for the upcoming weeks. There are a ton of fun and exciting activities and events going on! This week we are Very excited for the Savannah Spring Music Festival, Fore Paws Classic, John Corabi and much more!

 

 

#5: Fore Paws Classic

This Golfing event begins at 9am on May 22nd and is a Shotgun Start/Four Player Scramble golfing outing at Crosswinds Golf Club. There will be Prizes, Raffles, Fun & Games throughout the day! Please check out the event website to acquire tickets and ticket details.

The SD Gunner Fund, a registered 501(c)3 organization, was started in 2014 by Britnee Kinard and has a mission to assist veterans, children living with disabilities, and first responders while inspiring disability awareness through public education and advocacy. They are also known for training and providing service dogs and facility therapy dogs for veterans, first responders, and exceptional children. Service animals are trained to support individuals with mobility, hearing, psychiatric, and neurological disabilities. SDGF was founded in 2014 after founder, Britnee Kinard experienced first hand the lack of support programs that are available for veterans, after her husband suffered a traumatic brain injury serving as Sergeant of the US Army. Sergeant Hamilton Kinard is an OIF US Army Disabled Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient.

#4: John Corabi. @ Victory North Savannah

 

John Corabi, a Pennsylvania born performer, is an American hard rock singer and guitarist. He will be at Victory North Savannah on May 19th at 7pm playing with Voodoo13. Doors open for the show at 7pm, and the Show begins at 8pm. This event is for All Ages (however those Under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian). This event is Presented by Filthy Nasty Productions and will be a reduced capacity event.

#3: Martinis @ The Mansion on Forsyth

This event, Martinis at the Mansion will be at The Mansion on Forsyth and will be in benefit of the Greenbriar Children’s Center. This event is going to be on May 20th from 5:30–7 PM at Casimir’s Lounge.
Admission is a $5 suggested donation at the door, 100% of which will benefit Greenbriar Children’s Center.
With admission, guests will enjoy a special menu with discounted martini prices, live music by Tim Christopher and Wayne Wilson, and one complimentary raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $5 each or 5 tickets for $20 (all raffle proceeds will benefit Greenbriar Children’s Center).

This month’s event will also feature a special pop-up shopping experience with Kendra Scott, which will donate 20% of its sales that evening to Greenbriar Children’s Center.
Guests are kindly asked to practice social distancing and to wear their face masks when they are not actively eating or drinking. The terrace at 700 Drayton will be open during the event (weather permitting) for those who prefer to gather outdoors.

#2: Drivin N Cryin

The Legendary Atlanta band, Drivin N Cryin, Atlanta-based folk rock act, will be here to rock the Soundgarden Stage this May! Kick off Summer with a bang! Come see join us! Drawing influence from a wide array of musical elements, Drivin N Cryin has developed a unique sound over the years. Their name derives from the eclectic nature of this sound: a little drivin’ rock n roll and a little country twang. Comfortable with their past and confident in their future, the band has an arsenal of songs, a full tank of gas, and no plans of stopping any time soon. Also present will be Draucker, one of Coach’s favorite bands, opening for these legends! Tickets can be found on the event page.

#1: Savannah Music Festival – Spring Season

 

The Savannah Music Festival Spring Season will take place Sunday, May 23 – Sunday, May 30, 2021!

To provide for a safe return for all patrons, artists and other participants, the 2021 Savannah Music Festival plans are being modified. During the pre-sale from April 12-19, tickets are available by calling the SMF office at 912.234.3378. The pre-sale is reserved for donors ($1,250+), corporate sponsors ($5,000+), and SMF In Unison members only. Online sales will open to the public on April 20.

The Savannah Music Festival’s 2021 Spring Season includes the following performances:

– Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra Septet with Wynton Marsalis
Sunday, May 23 at 4 p.m. & 7:30 p.m. – Metal Building at Trustees’ Garden

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra Septet, under Music Director Wynton Marsalis, will perform a vast repertoire from rare historic compositions to special Jazz at Lincoln Center commissioned works.

– Performance Today’s “Piano Puzzler” with Bruce Adolphe and Fred Child
Tuesday, May 25 at 6 p.m. – Metal Building at Trustees’ Garden

“Piano Puzzler,” a hugely popular weekly American Public Media program hosted by Fred Child, returns to SMF with renowned composer and pianist Bruce Adolphe challenging the audience to identify popular tunes performed in the style of classical composers. – Ulysses Owens Jr.’s Generation Y / Camille Thurman and the Darrell Green Quartet
Wednesday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m. – Metal Building at Trustees’ Garden

An exciting collaboration, this show will feature two exceptional young jazz bandleaders, including SMF Jazz Academy Artistic Educator In Residence Ulysses Owens Jr.’s Generation Y — a hand-selected group of young musicians from The Juilliard School — and Camille Thurman, a composer, multi-instrumentalist and highly inventive vocalist.

– David Finckel, cello, and Wu Han, piano
Thursday, May 27 at 5:30 p.m. – Trinity United Methodist Church

The first chamber music concert of the 2021 Spring Season, the incomparable, award-winning duo of David Finckel and Wu Han will perform a program entitled “The Immortals,” featuring selected works by Bach, Beethoven and Brahms.

– Rodney Crowell
Thursday, May 27 at 8 p.m. – Metal Building at Trustees’ Garden

Renowned singer-songwriter Rodney Crowell returns to SMF to charm patrons with his country and Americana music, underscoring why he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting by the Americana Music Association.

– Amythyst Kiah / Jontavious Willis
Friday, May 28 at 7:30 p.m. – Metal Building at Trustees’ Garden

Grammy-nominated Americana and country blues artists share the stage for a one-of-a-kind co-bill, featuring Amythyst Kiah, winner of the Folk Alliance International Awards’ Song of the Year, and blues guitarist Jontavious Willis, a Georgia native and returning Savannah Music Festival favorite.

– Paul Huang, violin, and Anne-Marie McDermott, piano
Saturday, May 29 at 3 p.m. – Trinity United Methodist Church

Widely praised for his intensively expressive playing, Taiwanese-American violinist Paul Huang presents a varied recital program alongside celebrated pianist Anne-Marie McDermott in their SMF debut.

– Jeremy Denk, piano
Sunday, May 30 at 3 p.m. – Trinity United Methodist Church

One of America’s foremost pianists, Jeremy Denk returns to Savannah to perform selected works by Bach, Beethoven, Joplin/Chauvin and Schubert.
