Earth Day, Valor Awards and More : Week of April 14-20th

#5: Savannah Children’s Museum- Earth Week

Savannah Children’s Museum’s daily programs for the week of 4/17-4/24 with focus on Earth Day and environmental education with STEAM programs, a scavenger hunt, and art programs.   We will also have tours of Frogtown garden where students will have the opportunity to water and harvest herbs from the garden as well as learn about the plant cycle. 

 

#4: 2021 Valor Awards Hosted by The 200 Club of the Coastal Empire

Join us as we honor some of the area’s most courageous first responders at the 2021 Valor awards. Valor Awards are presented to law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel from the Coastal Empire who have exhibited extreme valor while on duty.

#3: Free family weekend at the Jepson – From Picasso to Hockney: Modern Art on Stage

Local residents are invited to visit the Jepson Center free of charge during this three-day weekend to experience the exhibition Picasso to Hockney: Modern Art On Stage. Take a scavenger hunt based on the exhibition and pick up a free art-making kit for families to enjoy at home. Theater arts and fashion displays by local students will be featured each afternoon.

 

 

 

#2: Leukemia & Lymphoma Societies- #WeCANcerVive Poker Run

Savannah Harley-Davidson and Savannah HOG Chapter 2689 have teamed up with Jennifer Hagan’s Man & Woman of the Year Team, #WeCANcerVive, to host a poker run benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Registration will begin at 10am at SHD, with the first bike out at 11am. All vehicles welcome and everyone is invited to join the after-party at SHD from 1-4pm. $20 donation includes one poker hand, lunch, music, raffles, and more. There will also be team shirts, extra hands, and 50/50 tickets available for purchase.

#1: Savannah College of Art and Design – Sidewalk Arts Festival 

The university’s longest-standing tradition is back on a screen near you! The virtual Sidewalk Arts Festival brings a spectrum of boldly imagined artwork directly to digital spectators, no matter where they are in the world. Current, former, and future Bees create colorful 2D masterpieces in the medium of their choice (including chalk!) and vie for valuable prizes. Get the latest buzz on #SCADchalk stars and share your experience on Instagram and Twitter.
